Our Dad’s can be some of our greatest protectors, allies, and supporters in life. This Sunday, June 19th is Father’s Day and we want to celebrate all the gardening Dads in our lives that have helped us through the good, the bad, and everything in between.
For Father’s Day this year, we have created a top 10 list of best gifts to give to Dad, so that you can give him something that fits his gardening needs just right!
10. A New Look
The warmest days of the year are right around the corner, so that means it is also time to change up the decor! Grab some new pots, stakes, and even some statuary to give an extra flare to Dad’s garden.
9. Hanging Baskets
Hanging baskets have an ability to spruce up any garden space at the drop of a hat. Surprise dad with a beautifully decorated porch or patio! Not only is this an easy way to give something special, but it is also something Dad can enjoy all summer while he sips his coffee and reads the paper.
8. Trees & Shrubs
Has Dad been looking for that special something to fill his garden bed? Pick a plant out for Dad that will be a landmark in his garden for years to come. We carry everything from Japanese maples to azaleas, hydrangeas, roses, and more to give Dad that landscape he has always dreamed of.
7. Handmade Containers
Make Dad something custom with a garden container made by you! Pick out a pot and pair some plants to create a beautiful display of color and texture. If you aren’t sure where to start, check out Mike, the Garden Guru’s video on containers here.
6. An Edible Garden
Growing fresh fruits and veggies in the garden is an extremely rewarding experience and is a great gift for Dad this Father’s Day! Create a edible garden for Dad with his favorite herbs, veggies, and berries that he can enjoy with you all season long.
5. A New Houseplant
Even if Dad is a true outdoor expert, there is always an entire world of indoor gardening waiting to be discovered. Give Dad something that will spruce up his home or even his office with a new houseplant pal. There are so many great plants to choose from, so if you are struggling to find something that just screams “Dad”, our Green Team members are here to help every step of the way.
4. Update His Plant’s Medicine Cabinet
No matter how good Dad is at gardening, he may need a little help from time to time with treating disease, pests, and other issues in his garden. Keep Dad’s plant medicine cabinet packed with all the best products for his recurring garden problems. For great suggestions, check out Mike, the Garden Guru’s video on solutions here.
PRO-TIP: If Dad isn’t having issues with disease or pests, give him plant foods that will directly target the plants he loves to grow such as Espoma’s Tomato Tone or Garden Tone.
3. New Tools
Does Dad have that same rusty rake from when you were a kid? Give him some updated tools to make gardening and landscaping even easier for him throughout the year. From rakes to hand trowels, gloves, and more, we have what he needs to make his gardening experience that much more fun.
2. Grass Plugs
Give Dad the lawn he’s always wanted with grass plugs! Either patch up a rough spot or re-do the entire lawn with St. Augustine or Zoysia Empire grass. For more information and help with getting the right quantity of grass, check out our grass plugs page here.
1. Your Time
The best part about Father’s Day is being able to take some time out of busy schedules, long work days, and life, in general, to spend some quality time with one of the most important people in your life! Help Dad plant up all the goodies you got him and enjoy some time gardening together.
We hope all the Dad’s out there have a great Father’s Day!
