Learning About Lawn Solutions

Giving your lawn the TLC it needs doesn’t have to be a hassle. Prepping your lawn for fall can be simple, as long as you have the right tools for the job. We have collected some of our favorite solutions to making your lawn the best it can possibly be, even at the height of the warm season.

St. Augustine Weed & Feed –

This product is tailor-made for keeping St. Augustine, as well as Zoysia grasses, looking their best. It not only keeps a variety of weed types at bay so you don’t need to pull them yourself, it helps your grass grow healthy and strong for that perfect turf. This product comes as a granular, so it does need to be spread evenly throughout your lawn.

How to Spread St. Augustine Weed & Feed:

  • Put the product in a spreader, just like one you would use for grass seed.
  • Make sure you are spreading this product on a damp lawn. This will help the granules stick to the blades of grass.
  • Even though watering seems like it’s the next step, don’t do so until 24 hours have passed and the product has settled into the lawn.

Fertilome Natural Guard Humic Acid –

Humic acid is a great product to keep your lawn looking lush. This product helps increase CEC or Cation Exchange Capacity. The process of CEC helps the grass absorb the nutrients that it already gets from the soil more efficiently. In other words, it basically gives the lawn a bigger dinner plate of food to choose from. This helps the grass grow to its full potential, thus creating a healthy, lush lawn.

Mag-i-cal –

Soil pH is a huge part of what makes not just lawns, but all plants, grow. Mag-i-cal is a product that corrects the pH of the soil quickly to make it more suitable for the plant that is growing. St. Augustine and Zoysia grasses prefer a pH around 6.5, but other plants around the lawn may want a different pH for the soil that they are growing in.

PRO-TIP: If you are struggling or are unsure of your lawn’s pH, bring in a soil sample to our stores for a complimentary pH test and determine how to adjust from there for optimal growing.
