Sometimes finding the best use for your landscape can be challenging. For these homeowners, they’ve had their own fair share of problems with one side of their property. Erosion issues over the years prevented them from keeping anything stable. However, with the help from Daniel, our Director of Landscape Operations, we were able to come up with a solution that was much more dynamic by creating a unique waterfall feature.

Originally, this feature was not a part of the first design of the project. However, turf was unable to grow in this area and the steep grade didn’t help the situation. So Daniel went back to the drawing board to figure out how to utilize the space better, and after looking at different ground-cover solutions, finally came to a dynamic solution.

“We experimented with different ideas but we really wanted to make it a little bit more interesting.” – Daniel

The new goal was to utilize the areas that were unable to grow any foliage by implementing a rock-river feature, with four dynamic waterfalls throughout the landscape feature. These four waterfalls would provide a perfect, steady stream of water throughout the river and create a wonderful soundscape in the comfort of their backyard. When building out this water feature, Daniel and his team wanted to make sure it felt natural and not out of place with the rest of the surrounding property. The river itself was iterated a number of times just to make sure the water flow looked natural. He explains,“That can be a bit of a tedious process but we’ve always felt it’s worth it in the end.”

Now, instead of stepping outside and into a barren landscape, these homeowners are serenaded by the sounds of the babbling brook that has become their backyard oasis.
