Memories of Easter can last a lifetime, whether it’s an egg hunt in the garden or gathering around a table for a meal with the family. We are here to help celebrate time with the family by sharing our homemade bunny pancakes!

Did you know that we carry more than plants here at the garden center? We have a whole line of jams, jellys, sauces, and more, made exclusively for McDonald Garden Center. With just a few simple ingredients, you too can make an amazing Easter breakfast!!

You’ll need to collect the following items for your bunny-filled breakfast:

  • 1 Package of McDonald Garden Center’s Fresh & Local Buttermilk Pancake Mix (each package makes 10 pancakes)
  • 1 Bottle of McDonald Garden Center’s Fresh & Local Maple and/or Apple Cinnamon Syrup
  • 1 Egg
  • ⅔ Cup of Milk
  • 1 Container of Fresh Strawberries
  • 1 Can of Whipped Cream
  • Bunny Napkins (available exclusively at our year-round locations)

Option: Feel free to get creative (and maybe even a little messy) with fun extras like chocolate chips, nuts, blueberries, or bananas. The possibilities are endless!

Start your pancakes by adding 1 cup of mix, 1 beaten egg (or 2 egg whites), and ⅔ cup of milk. Stir together gently with a whisk until the batter moves off a spoon easily. To make your bunny, you will need to make 1 regular round pancake for the body, 1 smaller round pancake for the head, 2 smaller round pancakes for the feet, and 2 small, oblong pancakes for the ears. Don’t forget to have some fun! Make your bunny shapes however you please, with extra-long ears or really round bodies, the choice is all yours!

Plate these pancakes with the feet and ears first, then the head and the body. Add a little tuft of whipped cream for the tail and your other decorations as you please. Top with our McDonald Garden Center syrup for a breakfast you won’t forget!

After your bountiful bunny breakfast, don’t forget to join us at McDonald Garden Center for Petal Power 2.0, where you can find some amazing spring sales to fill your Easter baskets. Bring the kids (or even the fur babies) and hop in for our Bunny Day Bucks scavenger hunt for an opportunity to score a coupon, valid only April 16th – 17th, 2022 at our Independence location.
