Our Plant of the Week is the gorgeous Miss Molly Summer Lilac. Also known as Buddleia or Butterfly Bush, this plant pushes the color spectrum with blooms boasting rich hues of dark sangria-red. Flowers will appear from June until frost. To encourage re-blooming, deadhead the spent blooms. This beauty is nice and neat with compact branching. And, is a fast grower reaching 4-5 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide. It prefers well-drained soil and can even tolerant drought once established. Prune in late fall or early spring for best results. It is sterile and will not produce unwanted seedlings like some of the other Buddleias. Other non-seeding cultivars include ‘Blue Chip’, ‘Purple Haze’, ‘Miss Ruby’ and ‘Asian Moon’. Butterfly Bush is top butterfly attractor and appeals to many different types. Bring butterflies to your garden with this summer stellar!
